Description
This role is responsible for the day-to-day leadership and supervision of Fire Dispatchers within the Fire Operations Communications Centre (FOCC). Working closely with the Chief Communications Officer, this role provides input, recommendations, and feedback on a wide range of operational, staffing, and service delivery issues. This role supports the planning, organization, administration, and overall operation of the FOCC, serving as a key resource for the FOCC and Prince George Fire Rescue Services staff. You will represent the Department in regular interactions with partner agencies and various provincial, regional and municipal representatives.

Requirements

You have a minimum of eight years of directly related experience in a public safety role. A proven leader, you have at least four years of supervisory experience within a unionized environment. Grade 12 is required, and a post-secondary undergraduate degree in a related discipline is desirable. Experience working with and troubleshooting technical issues with computer and public safety communications technology, including Computer Assisted Dispatch systems and Records Management Systems, is essential. You are a decisive and highly motivated professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment. You have exceptional organizational and time management skills, an aptitude for technology, and find satisfaction in ensuring your staff are well trained and highly engaged. You have a valid Class 5 BC driver's license (or out-of-province equivalent). A Police Information Check for offences related to the position is required.
