Description
You will assist the Bylaw Services Division in ensuring the City of Prince George is a safe and livable community for all residents and visitors through compliance with Municipal Bylaws. Your focus will be to proactively respond to concerns related to public safety and cleanliness and to monitor the security of City facilities and parkades. The work also involves receiving and investigating bylaw complaints, communicating, and educating others on bylaw requirements, and taking action to achieve compliance when violations have occurred. The position is required to work outside of traditional working hours in both a standard office environment and outdoors in all weather conditions. This is a term position, and the duration is unknown.

 

Requirements

Along with Grade 12, you have completed the Bylaw Enforcement and Investigative Skills Certificate Program, Level 1, through the Justice Institute of BC and have formal training in conflict resolution techniques and customer service. A valid WorkSafe BC Occupational First Aid (OFA) Level 1 certification is considered an asset. You also have a minimum of one (1) year of experience dealing with the public interpreting policies, rules, and regulations, and applying them to gain compliance. You have a valid Class 5 BC driver's license (or out-of-province equivalent). A Police Information Check for offences related to the position is required. Shift work is required. The current shift is two (2) days, two (2) afternoons four (4) days on, and four (4) days off. 7 am-7 pm, 1 pm-11 pm.

Salary & Benefits

Enjoy a competitive wage of $38.66- $39.56 per hour (wage under review). Term positions expected to last longer than 6 months are eligible for benefits and pension.
