Applications are now being accepted for the Temporary Full Time Licensed Fleet Technician position of Operations Department. Please note that the shifts will be Monday - Friday from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm.  You will be required to be on-call approximately once a month

JOB SUMMARY 
 Reporting to the Supervisor, Fleet & Supplies, you will be responsible for ensuring the City vehicles and equipment are in optimal operating condition in accordance with legislated standards and internal requirements

Key Duties And Responsibilities:

  • Performing mandatory commercial vehicle inspections and other inspections in compliance with the National Safety Code, Commercial Vehicle Operators Registration System, and the Highway Traffic Act 
  • Diagnosing and performing repairs to complex mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and fuel systems as they apply to automotive, truck, agricultural, turf and heavy equipment units 
  • Additional duties as required 
  • Shift work, standby and the ability to work overtime is required.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

  • In addition to a High School diploma or equivalent, you possess a valid Ministry of College Of Trades Automotive Technician Certificate (310 S Automotive)* and Truck and Coach Certificate (310 T Truck and Coach)
  • Candidates with only a 310S certificate may be considered if they are registered 310T apprentice and will be compensated at a lower hourly rate until 310T license obtained. 
  • 7 years of related experience 
  • Valid ‘DZ’ Driver’s License or able to get within 6 months
  • Skilled in the operations of various shop equipment and demonstrated fabrication and welding skills 
  • Sound knowledge of computers and laptop diagnostics 
  • Advanced courses in related discipline are considered an asset 
  • Must supply own tools suitable to trade requirements 
  • Physically capable of performing all the duties identified above 
  • Consideration will be given first to internal candidates who have a mechanics license 
  • As a condition of employment, you will be required to provide a driver’s abstract meeting current satisfactory requirements (0 demerit points, no more than 1 moving violation, and no more than 1 non-moving violation)

Salary & Benefits

Salary Range:$41.95 To $42.40 Hourly
