Requirements

Your experience in producing events includes impeccable planning (for the predictable and the unexpected), organizational prowess, skilled management of volunteers and short-term staff, an obsession for safety, exceptional time and budget management, and a passion for creating engaging and memorable experiences.

Your references attest to your attention to detail, ability to work independently, competence in pivoting to deal with the unexpected, strong project management, experience hiring and managing entertainment and contractors, and your diligence in safety management. This role involves significant independent work but relies on extensive input from other teams in planning, and considerable teamwork in execution.

You can demonstrate a creative talent for planning engaging and memorable events and activities for all ages. You continuously prioritize tasks to ensure the planning and day-of activities are executed smoothly. Your plans include contingencies and responses to rain, heat, snow, wind, smoke, cold and other hazards, and you never compromise safety or environmental protection.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience planning and producing large events, experience with safety protocols and planning response needs, skills in diplomacy to represent the Town, and proven relationship management skills that will be called on to work with colleagues, partners, local businesses, community members and potential sponsors to achieve the vision for events. You are competent in Microsoft Office programs and use tools to manage projects. Assets include experience with events as a tourism attraction, marketing experience or understanding of Banff National Park and its unique opportunities.  The role encompasses a range of expectations, and you thrive in a flexible work schedule that includes some evenings, weekends and holidays, to deliver or monitor events and film production. You have the ability to work with crews in carrying equipment, setting up and taking down standard event infrastructure.

You have a post-secondary degree, diploma or certification in events management, public relationships, communications, business administration, hospitality, or related fields, or similar training with extensive events management. You have at least five years of work experience in event planning and production. This position is required to work on site in Banff, with an option to work up to two days a week remotely, and extra days off in lieu of working extra hours for events.

The starting salary for this position will range from $77,000 to $85,000 per year, according to experience, with growth potential based on performance and cost of living increases. Our benefit plan includes group health, dental and retirement, paid time off for illness and vacation and non-traditional benefits that help Town employees enjoy the Rockies. Start date is targeted for May or earlier.
