Description
The District of Saanich is one of the four core municipalities within the Capital Regional District. The community is home to 114,000 citizens and is comprised of urban, suburban and rural areas, and 12 diverse neighborhoods. Saanich is known for its progressive initiatives in the areas of Environmental Protection, Climate Change, and Community Planning.

The Bylaw And Licensing Services Division is looking for an experienced Bylaw Officer to investigate, report, and resolve parking, street, and boulevard use violations within the District. This role involves conducting customer-centric, compliance-oriented patrols—by vehicle or on foot—to enforce the District’s Streets and Traffic Bylaw, Boulevard Regulation Bylaw, Parks Management and Control Bylaw, and other applicable regulations. The ideal candidate for this challenging position will demonstrate strong observational and communication skills, and the ability to handle difficult situations with tact and diplomacy. Attention to detail, along with proficiency in word processing and database applications, is equally important.

Requirements

Requirements include completion of Grade 12 or equivalent; the BC Justice Institute Bylaw Enforcement and Investigative Program Level 1 and/or relevant coursework in criminology or investigative skills; and a minimum of three years’ experience in municipal bylaw enforcement or a related field. Candidates must also be experienced in office practices and procedures, possess a valid BC Class 5 Driver’s Licence, and provide a Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector (PIC-VS) dated within the past six months. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

The successful candidate will be required to work a flexible schedule based on operational needs. This may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and overtime, and is therefore subject to change. As part of the selection process, testing will be conducted in addition to the interview. Salary & Benefits
