Parks, Recreation and Community Services is seeking experienced and enthusiastic Instructor IIs - Badminton to join the Recreation Division at G.R. Pearkes Recreation Centre (programs held at Colquitz Middle School). These casual positions are ideal for individuals who are passionate about sport instruction and enjoy working with children and youth in a fun, inclusive, and active environment.

Under the general direction of a Recreation Programmer or Program Technician, the Instructor II is responsible for planning and delivering badminton programs that introduce participants to fundamental skills such as racket handling, footwork, rules of play, and basic game strategies. Responsibilities include preparing lesson plans and equipment, leading instructional sessions, maintaining attendance records, and ensuring a safe and positive environment for all participants. The Instructor II also supports program delivery by maintaining equipment, following facility procedures, and providing excellent customer service.

Requirements

Requirements include completion of Grade 10, a minimum of three months’ experience in a related instructional or recreational setting, and Emergency First Aid with CPR-C. Employment is subject to a satisfactory Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector (PIC-VS) dated within the last six months. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong instructional ability, effective communication skills, and the ability to engage and support participants of varying skill levels. Previous experience or certification in badminton instruction is considered an asset. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Salary & Benefits
