Saanich Commonwealth Place Recreation Centre is seeking customer-focused Recreation Receptionists to provide welcoming, accurate, and efficient frontline service to facility users. As a first point of contact, the Recreation Receptionist provides information about Parks, Recreation and Community Services programs, facilities, memberships, and services while supporting customers in person, by telephone, and through online services.
The Recreation Receptionist performs program registrations and membership sales, processes admissions and point-of-sale transactions including payments, credits and refunds, balances daily deposits and prepares floats, and provides general clerical support such as statistics tracking, meeting minutes, programming data entry, and records maintenance. The role also monitors facility access and admissions, supports other facility business and operational units, and participates in emergency response and inclement weather procedures as required.
Requirements include Grade 12 or equivalent; six continuous months of experience within the past five years working in a public-facing reception counter environment with cash handling, including receiving and processing computerized registrations or similar experience in a fast-paced customer service environment; and three months of general office administrative experience within the past five years. Candidates must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and have experience with a computerized registration management system. Preference may be given to candidates with Recreation Centre experience and recreation registration software experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
The successful candidates will be required to work varying shifts, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends. Hours and shifts are subject to change.
