The Saanich Police Department is seeking a strategic and experienced Director of Finance and Procurement to join the Office of the Chief Constable. This exempt, permanent full-time position is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing financial planning, reporting, and procurement functions in support of departmental priorities and operational excellence.

Reporting to senior leadership within the Office of the Chief Constable, the Director of Finance and Procurement provides leadership and direction for all financial and procurement activities within the Police Department. The role is responsible for budgeting, financial reporting, internal controls, and long-term financial planning, as well as overseeing procurement processes and ensuring compliance with municipal policies and regulatory requirements. The Director works collaboratively with internal stakeholders and external partners to support informed decision-making, optimize resource allocation, and ensure transparency and accountability across all financial operations.

Requirements

Requirements include a post-secondary degree in finance, accounting, business administration or a related discipline, along with a professional accounting designation (CPA) and significant experience in financial leadership roles, preferably within a public sector or policing environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong strategic thinking, leadership and communication skills, as well as a thorough understanding of financial management, procurement practices, and governance in a complex organization. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

The successful candidate will be required to work Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. This position requires successful completion and maintenance of the Saanich Police enhanced reliability security clearance, including polygraph testing, and strict adherence to privacy and confidentiality requirements. Salary & Benefits

This is an exempt position with an annual salary range of $183,528.81 to $196,925.08. The starting salary is set at $183,528.81, with increments occurring at the 4th and 7th year of service.
