Foothills County encompasses a diverse rural landscape located in the foothills of southern Alberta with our administrative office in High River, AB. We are currently seeking a Senior Accountant to fulfill a 12 – 18 month full-time term.
Reporting to the Director of Corporate Services, the Senior Accountant is responsible for all aspects of financial reporting and budget preparation for the organization. This position will provide supervision, guidance and support to the finance team as well as maintain processes to mitigate organizational risk. The Senior Accountant is also responsible to provide sound financial advice and support to Management and Council, ensuring that all considerations related to policies, bylaws and procedures have been followed.
To be successful in this position you will need:
- University Degree or Accounting Diploma with a Chartered Professional Accounting Designation (CPA).
- A minimum of three years of supervisory, budget, and financial reporting experience is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Municipal experience, while not mandatory, would be considered an asset.
- You will possess excellent verbal and written skills that enable you to convey information to staff, council, and the public.
- Your experience will be evident in your ability to read, analyze and interpret financial reports and legal documents pertaining to the needs of the organization.
