Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform mowing of County ditches, Hamlets and other County owned property as needed.
- Perform brushing of County right of ways and properties where trees and brush are identified to be removed.
- Assist with herbicide application for weed/invasive plants control and manual removal of weeds in summer.
- Aid with routine equipment maintenance.
- Keep equipment and vehicles clean.
- Always adhere to all pertinent safety laws, legislation, policies and operating procedures.
- Participate in the on-call rotation when required.
- Able to work in a team environment, and/or work independently.
- Perform other duties as assigned from time to time as required.
- Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s Licence.
- Experience with operating chainsaws.
- Operating agricultural equipment (ie. tractors) and mowing equipment.
- Good communication and written skills.
- Ability to interact with the general public in a polite and courteous manner.
- Knowledge with equipment maintenance.
- Hauling with a trailer and loading and unloading equipment on trailers.
The following are considered assets to be successful in this position.
- Q Endorsement.
- Pesticide Applicator Licence or Authorized Assistant Licence.
- Level 3 Chainsaw Feller Ticket.
Note: A current driver’s abstract will be a requirement for this position and must meet the standards outlined in our policy.
