Description
You will support the Bylaw Services Division in enforcing municipal bylaws to maintain the safety and livability of the City of Prince George. Responsibilities include investigating complaints, applying bylaw requirements, and taking enforcement actions such as issuing notices and tickets. You'll patrol city parks and trails, respond to bylaw violations, and may work with a downtown team focused on public safety and cleanliness. Additional tasks include contributing to bylaw amendments and maintaining reports. This position requires work outside of regular office hours in both office and outdoor settings, often in varying weather conditions. This is a term position, and the duration is unknown.

Requirements

In addition to completing Grade 12, you have successfully completed the Level 1 Bylaw Enforcement and Investigative Skills Certificate Program through the Justice Institute of BC or an equivalent program, with the ability to obtain the Level 2 Certificate within 24 months of hire. You possess formal training in conflict resolution techniques and bring a minimum of two years' experience in a regulatory environment, including the interpretation and enforcement of laws, bylaws, and regulations, conducting investigations, and working with paralegal or court procedures. You also have demonstrated experience dealing face-to-face with hostile or challenging individuals. Experience as a Peace Officer is considered an asset. You have a valid Class 5 BC driver's license (or out-of-province equivalent). A Police Information Check for offences related to the position is required. Shift work is required. The current shift is two (2) days, two (2) afternoons four (4) days on, and four (4) days off. 7 am-7 pm, 1 pm-11 pm.
