Description
You love maps! You care about data! What’s more, you love creating and maintaining Geographical Information Systems (GIS) that provide visual tools for the display and analysis of geospatial data. In this role, you contribute to “Taking Care of Banff” by supporting the integrity of the Town’s corporate GIS data and various drawings, maps and apps developed to assist internal and external stakeholders in visualization of data, space and structure.

Your previous experience has prepared you to help develop and maintain a variety of mapping products, such as wall maps, map books, graphics and interactive applications. You are familiar with spatial data creation, having used multiple sources, including tabular, GPS and digitization and you are confident with GIS data analysis, file management, database management, spatial data capture, structuring and integration into GIS themes.

You will report to the GIS Coordinator and are diligent and committed to data integrity, quality and accuracy. Your enthusiasm for GIS and information sharing makes you a natural teacher who can “translate” GIS into layman’s language for users inside and outside the organization.

You will be required to perform analysis and quality control of geospatial data, while supporting a number of concurrent projects. These responsibilities fit well with your reputation for attention to detail and your ability to quickly understand and interpret stakeholder needs and implement appropriate solutions.

There is very limited employee housing availability so priority will be given to candidates already living in the area.
