Description
The Town of Banff is looking for a Heavy Equipment Transit Technician (HET) with sound experience and in-the-pit skills who will “Take Care of Banff” by ensuring our regional ROAM transit buses (including ICE, hybrid and electric) run safely and reliably in mountain conditions. You will be joining the Town of Banff Fleet team, where we are committed to working collaboratively and independently and ensuring everyone is motivated and successful.


You will perform inspections, diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance on transit buses and heavy equipment and complete Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program (CVIP) inspections and documentation in compliance with Alberta Transportation requirements. This position will also be required to support on-call services to return vehicles to service safely.

Requirements

This position requires an Alberta-journeyman (or equivalent red seal) and CVIP certification (or ability to acquire this certification within probation) but the Town of Banff will also consider those individuals who are currently completing an apprenticeship program with transit experience. In addition to the certifications required, you have a valid Alberta Class 3Q license, experience in equipment and vehicle repair and maintenance, knowledge of workplace safety programs and can produce a clear driver’s abstract and RCMP criminal background check.

Salary & Benefits

The Town of Banff offers extensive traditional including health & dental benefits, defined RRSP (8% employer contribution) or LAPP pension benefits. This position is based on 40 hours per week with varied schedules including weekend shifts and on–call services. There is potential to work four 10-hour shifts giving you mid-weekdays off to explore Banff National Park all winter and summer.


The starting wage for this position will be based on experience and the level of certification, however for a fully certified red seal heavy equipment technician (HET) the wage is $51.00 per hour.
