We are currently seeking an experienced project manager who will play a key role in helping the team ensure that safe, efficient, and functional facilities are made available to our partners and users. STATUS: Non-Permanent Term (4 years)

HOURS OF WORK: 37.5 hours per week

 

Our project management work is integral to all facets of our Facility asset management strategy from maintenance to property management support to lifecycle planning. In this role, you will have the opportunity to directly support facility needs for our community.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, implement, and manage building construction, renovation projects, furniture layouts and other property management related projects for the City of Lethbridge.
  • Work with multiple stakeholders including consultants, contractors, service providers, and in-house staff as needed to deliver a variety of project assignments.
  • Work closely with the project management and maintenance teams within the department.
  • Contribute technical expertise and experience in building design and construction, as well as an understanding of functional building requirements to support optimal project outcomes for stakeholders.
  • Develop and manage project scopes and budgets.
  • Contract management including preparing procurement documents, evaluating bid submissions, reviewing construction documents, and processing invoices.
  • Manage project closeout and warranty period requirements.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the building design and construction industry, ideally as a design consultant, project manager, or construction project manager.
  • 2 years of post-secondary education with a technical diploma in architecture, engineering, or a building science related field; or a university degree in architecture or engineering (with professional designation in Alberta).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of project and construction management principles and procedures.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting design drawings and specifications.
  • Knowledge of government legislation and industry standards related to construction.
  • Proficient in the use of computer programs (e.g., MS Office).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral).
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, and team building skills with the ability to motivate others.
  • Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships both internally and externally.
  • Demonstrated cost estimating and cost control skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to administer several projects at once.
  • Openness, and ability to think innovatively, strategically, and critically.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and drafting standards is an asset.
  • Experience with architectural design including space planning, furnishings, interior design, and accessibility is an asset.

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Applicants must submit a copy of their post-secondary degree/diploma with their application to be considered for the opportunity.
  • The successful candidate will be required to use their personal vehicle to travel to meetings and project sites and must maintain appropriate insurance coverage for this purpose.
  • The successful candidate may be required to successfully pass a Police Information Check (PIC).

 

Please Note:

Candidates selected for interviews will be required to complete a written response to a project management scenario. This will be completed following the interview. A room will be provided, and candidates will have one hour to complete and submit their response.
