The District of Saanich's Parks, Recreation and Community Services department is seeking a team player to help drive our mission of Healthy Nature, Healthy People, and Healthy Community, while supporting our vision: a Saanich where everyone belongs.

You’ll work within a team where service excellence, learning and knowledge sharing, and feedback and accountability are highly valued, and where communication, trust, respect, and positivity form the foundation for everything we do.

Our Youth Services team is currently hiring Program Leaders I to plan and deliver inclusive, engaging, and youth-centered programs at our Teen Centres and outreach locations. These programs include both drop-in and registered activities that promote connection, creativity, and confidence in youth. Program Leaders are responsible for leading activities, supervising participants, mentoring Program Assistants and volunteers, and ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all. Shifts may take place at the Gordon Head, Saanich Commonwealth Place, Pearkes, and Cedar Hill Youth Centres, as well as in local SD61 and SD63 middle and high schools.

Requirements

Requirements include completion of Grade 10, a minimum of three months of experience leading programs in a recreational or instructional setting, Emergency First Aid and CPR-C, and a satisfactory Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector (PIC-VS) no older than six months. Ideal candidates are inclusive, adaptable, and motivated, with strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Experience supporting youth with behavioral or cognitive differences is an asset. Additionally, experience in areas such as Dungeons & Dragons, cooking and baking, arts and crafts, yoga, Zumba or dance fitness, and general youth social programming will be considered strong assets. Candidates must be available for a variety of shifts, including after school, evenings, and weekends. While we thank all applicants for applying, only those under consideration will be contacted.

Salary & Benefits
