As an Operations Technician – Utilities, you will perform specialized tradesperson work at the journeyman level requiring skill and ability to ensure the districts utility infrastructure assets are reliable and maintained using manufacturer specification as well as industry best practices. Duties include electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, repair and replacement of similar components for water, drainage and wastewater stations. The successful applicant will provide technical recommendations, participates in design and maintenance review, procurement and assistance during construction of pump stations and other related infrastructure.
Requirements include Grade 12 or equivalent; EOCP Level 2 in Water Distribution and/or Wastewater collection or ability to obtain or demonstrated equivalent knowledge through a combination of acquired related experience and education; Supervisory training and experience; Trades Qualification Certificate or certificate of apprenticeship in heavy duty mechanics, mechanics, millwrighting, or industrial electrical; Pump maintenance course from a recognized vocational/technical institution; Four years of experience or a combination of experience and training in work directly related to lift stations, pump stations or mechanical systems that specialised in fluid movement or hydrodynamics; An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered; and a Valid Class 5 BC Driver's Licence.
The successful candidate will work Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (40 hours per week). In addition to the interview process, testing will be conducted. Only those under consideration will be contacted.
