The Finance Department is seeking a collaborative and organized individual to join the Purchasing Services Division in the role of Storeskeeper. As a key support to the Stores Supervisor, this role plays a vital part in the day-to-day operation of the municipal stores operation located at the Public Works and Parks Yard. We’re looking for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, is detail-oriented, and demonstrates initiative in inventory control, materials handling, and procurement support.
The Storeskeeper is responsible for performing a range of storeskeeping duties, including ordering, receiving, issuing, and maintaining inventory records for materials, tools, and equipment. The role involves ensuring adequate stock levels, monitoring inventory systems, participating in physical counts, and maintaining storage areas in a safe and organized manner. This position also includes interacting with staff, suppliers, and the public, and providing guidance on departmental procedures. Duties also involve equipment handling (forklift, backhoe), propane dispensing, and providing First Aid when required.
Requirements include completion of Grade 12 and at least two years of directly related experience in storeskeeping and inventory control. Applicants must also demonstrate relevant education and training in supply chain management, such as completion of CPIM Version 6.0 Part 1 or equivalent accredited coursework (e.g., SCMA or APICS).
The successful candidate will have or be able to obtain a valid Backhoe and Forklift Operator Certification, as well as a Propane Dispensing Certification. A current Occupational First Aid Level 2 certificate is also required (or the ability to obtain it within a reasonable timeframe). An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
This position also requires sufficient health, strength, and coordination to perform the physical requirements of the role, and the ability to work in warehouse and outdoor environments in all weather conditions. The successful candidate will be required to work Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
