Position Overview
Are you passionate about sustainability and data-driven decision-making? Do you want to play a key role in shaping how our city manages waste, recycling, and diversion programs? If so, we’re looking for a detail-oriented and tech-savvy professional to join our team as a Solid Waste Services Analyst! This role is all about turning numbers into action. You’ll analyze and manage solid waste data, support compliance programs, and help educate the community on best practices for waste reduction. You’ll work both in the office and out in the field. If you love data, problem-solving, and making a real impact on the environment, this is the job for you!
Please note this is a temporary position until approximately November 14, 2025 or return of incumbent.
The successful candidate must have the following qualifications:
- Completion of a post-secondary degree in Science, Engineering, Education, Business, or a related discipline.
- Proficient in intermediate Word, intermediate Excel, basic Access and basic PowerPoint, as demonstrated through testing (70% pass rate is required).
- Minimum six months' previous experience in collecting, managing, analyzing and reporting data.
- Minimum six months’ professional experience interacting with members of the public.
- Valid BC Driver's Licence - Class 5.
For new hires, and for those working in designated positions of trust, including those working directly with vulnerable persons, no formal offer of employment will be made until an applicant completes a police information check. This position will receive 14% in lieu of all benefits, vacation, stat holidays, and health time. This is a Cupe local 900 position.
