Instructor II for recreational gymnastics programs hours are 9am-12:15pm on Mondays and/or 8:30am-4:45pm on Saturdays most likely starting in September 2025 (on-call hours possible for Spring 2025).
Gordon Head Recreation Centre is seeking up to 3 casual positions to support our gymnastics programming. For July & August 2025, we are seeking an experienced and qualified Program Leader I to plan and lead Gymnastics & Swim Summer Camps for school aged children ages 6-9yrs. The Program Leader I will work fulltime from 8:15am-4:15pm with a program assistant during the months of July and August.
In addition, we are seeking 1 to 2 casual Instructor IIs to lead our recreational gymnastics programming which consists of Parent & Tot classes (18mths-3yrs), preschool classes (ages 3-5yrs) and school age classes (ages 6-9yrs). These are seasonal classes that run throughout the year during the Fall (Sep-Dec), Winter (Jan-Mar) and Spring (Apr-June) sessions.
The successful candidates should be available for at least one of the following shift schedules: summer camps M-F 8:15am-4:15 pm for July & Aug 2025; Mondays from 9am-12:15pm starting in Sep 2025; or Saturdays 8:30am-4:45pm starting in Sep 2025. The successful candidates must be able to work independently and be confident teaching and instructing the basics of gymnastics.
These positions are responsible for planning and supervising gymnastics lessons in either a summer camp setting or recreational class setting. This also involves ensuring the safety and well-being of participants and communicating and working cooperatively with participants, parents, co-workers, coordinators and supervisors.
Requirements include completion of Grade 10; three months experience teaching gymnastics classes or programs in a recreational or instructional setting; satisfactory police information check, Emergency First-Aid and CPR-C. The ideal candidate will have the ability to be inclusive and flexible to ensure a positive environment is created for all participants; demonstrated customer service and interpersonal skills; ability to maintain a high degree of enthusiasm and personal motivation. Experience working with people with behavioral or cognitive difficulties is an asset. An equivalent combination of education and expertise may be considered.

This is a C.U.P.E. Local 2011 position with a wage of $24.43 per hour for the Program Leader I position and $26.16 per hour for the Instructor II position, plus 15% in lieu of benefits.
