Position Overview
Are you a dynamic leader with a passion for public infrastructure and emergency response? The City of Kamloops is looking for a Utility Services Supervisor - Operations to lead a team of skilled professionals in maintaining and improving our essential water, sewer, and storm systems.
Strong leadership is the most important quality we are seeking for this position. The supervisor positions are supported by a team of unionized leaders (Crew Leader and Lead Hands) so the ability to develop and maintain a high functioning team is essential.
Exempt positions in the City of Kamloops offer competitive salaries, benefits, inclusion in the municipal pension, an earned day off program and access to a well-equipped employee gym within the Civic Operations Center.
The successful candidate must have the following qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of previous supervisory experience.
- Minimum 5 years of previous experience in the operations, maintenance and repair of municipal water, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer systems.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, inspire, motivate and coach employees in a unionized environment.
- Proficient in computer applications such as MS Word and Excel.
- Experience in responding to emergency situations.
- Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Education, training or courses related to leadership.
- Education, training or courses related to local government administration.
- Education, training or courses related to emergency management.
- Certification through EOCP in utility disciplines.

This position has a starting salary of $123,803.55 per year.
