Temporary (Up to 15 Months, Maternity Coverage), Full time, On Site

Are you a dynamic and strategic leader with a passion for marketing and creative services? The City of Medicine Hat is seeking an experienced and innovative Manager of Marketing and Creative Services to join our Communications, Engagement, and Marketing team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for leading, coordinating, and implementing comprehensive marketing strategies that align with the City's objectives, while also developing and executing a corporate sponsorship strategy.

 

Your key responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Director of Communications, Engagement, and Marketing to provide strategic direction across all areas of community marketing, including economic development, business retention, investment attraction, parks and recreation, and cultural events.
  • Oversee the development and execution of strategic marketing plans encompassing digital marketing, advertising, public relations, and more. Ensure alignment with corporate goals.
  • Lead and mentor a team of marketing and creative services professionals, fostering a collaborative and results-driven environment.
  • Develop and manage a comprehensive sponsorship strategy, including naming rights and service sponsorships, while maintaining strong sponsor relationships.
  • Coordinate the development and analysis of metrics to evaluate marketing effectiveness and support ongoing planning efforts.
  • Monitor and report on advertising budgets in accordance with corporate policies and guidelines.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with internal departments, external partners, businesses, and the community.

  • Deep understanding of marketing theory, principles, and practices, coupled with proficiency in strategic marketing, communications, and digital platforms.
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and inspire a results-driven team, fostering a cooperative and positive work environment.
  • Highly skilled in managing websites, social media, digital marketing, fund development, and sponsorship initiatives to drive the City's marketing efforts.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to network, build effective working relationships, and engage diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and conflict resolution skills, enabling independent decision-making and effective problem-solving.
  • Demonstrated experience in public engagement strategies, ensuring effective communication with the community and stakeholders.
  • Competent in using Microsoft applications, content management systems, and social media platforms; basic graphic design skills are an asset.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, diverse work environment, managing competing priorities while ensuring adherence to safety standards and budget management.

 

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of a bachelor's degree in marketing, public relations, or a related field from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • Seven (7) years' progressive work experience in a diversified marketing and communications environment, including five (5) years of progressive supervisory experience.
  • An equivalent combination of management approved training and experience may be considered.
