Description
The Transportation and Development Services Division is seeking junior staff to perform technical work related to municipal engineering. Our department is focused on improving safety for all road users, reducing Saanich’s climate footprint, and facilitating the rapid development of housing and jobs.

Your duties to support this will include responding to inquiries received from the public, reviewing road works permit applications, designing minor road safety improvements and providing technical support to senior staff. You bring an open mind to the future possibilities of active transportation in Saanich. Personal experience walking, rolling, and cycling considered an asset to join an award-winning team. We are looking for applicants who bring creative, sustainable, and practical solutions to transportation related problems.

Requirements

Qualified applicants have strong written and oral communications skills; a two-year Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology from a recognized institution; three months of related experience; eligibility for registration with ASTTBC; strong computer skills; and a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence. Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.

The successful candidate will work afternoons, Monday to Friday, (3.5 hours per day; 17.5 hours per week).

As a component of the selection process, testing will be conducted.

Salary & Benefits

This is a C.U.P.E. Local 2011 position with a wage of $37.07 per hour and an excellent benefits package. Job description and competition information can be found at www.saanich.ca.
