RCMP Administrative Assistant

Permanent, Full-time

$24.95 per hour

Reporting to the RCMP Municipal Employee Supervisor, the RCMP Administrative Assistant provides administrative support duties for the High River detachment of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), as well as, front-line support related to customer service inquiries. This internal and external customer focused position is an important first point of contact for customers and stakeholders (including public and internal inquiries) related to the RCMP municipal services.

This position formally reports within the Town of High River organizational structure however, works closely with the RCMP, as such it is important that the RCMP Administrative Assistant maintains a professional, friendly demeanor and conducts themselves according to policies and procedures as outlined by each administrative body. Close collaboration and team work with the Town of High River and RCMP colleagues will be key to success.  

This opportunity allows for a diverse array of duties ranging from working with police operating/information systems, preparing court documentation, transcription of recorded statements, etc. This position will act as a key liaison with Provincial Clerks and agent for the Attorney General.  

Requirements

The right candidate will have post-secondary education in office administration or related field or a minimum of five years experience in a senior office administration role. Preference will be given to those with a combination of education and experience. A high degree of interpersonal and customer service skills along with strong oral and written communication skills are critical success factors for this position. Previous experience in a police or similar environment and knowledge of RCMP administrative systems are considered an asset. The ability to represent the Town and RCMP in a credible and professional manner by maintaining confidentiality and professionalism is essential in this public serving role. 

Due to the unique nature of this position you must obtain and continuously maintain a security clearance at the level of RCMP Reliability status. The process for obtaining the security clearance can take several months to complete; the start date for this position will be dependent on successfully obtaining the security clearance.
