General Responsibilities: Reporting to the Economic Development/Communications Officer, this position is responsible for coordinating a significant number of special events for the Town. Events range from coordination of Town organized community events, working with external event organizers to bring events to Wasaga Beach and staff/corporate events. In addition, the incumbent will work with community groups, organizations, internal departments and special event promoters in organizing and delivering town endorsed Special Events over the summer and off season, which contributes to sustaining the tourism economy of Wasaga Beach and enhancing community spirit.
Qualifications:
• Completion of a post secondary degree or diploma in Event Management, or a related field, with minimum of three (3) years relevant experience preferred; or significant related experience gained in the field of Event Management;
• Possess or willing to obtain a diploma or certificate in Event Management;
• Excellent leadership skills with an ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff, elected officials, the business community and general public;
• Excellent analytical, conflict resolution and project/time management skills;
• Strong report writing skills and demonstrated computer abilities utilizing Microsoft Office and Outlook;
• Ability to work a variety of shifts including days, evenings, weekends and statutory holidays;
• Valid class G Ontario driver’s license with a clean abstract and clean criminal reference check;
• Ability to lead and work with and contribute positively to a service oriented team.
Hourly Wage Range: $28.81-33.70/hr (40 hours per week, 2012 rates).
