Posting Closes: October 2, 2026 at 4:00 p.m.                   Schedule: 35 hours/week (7 hours/day)

Working within the Assessment & Tax Department and reporting to the Chief Assessor, the Accredited Assessor – Non-Residential is responsible for preparing and maintaining non-residential valuation models and conducting assessments and inspections for a diverse portfolio of non-residential properties within Parkland County. Utilizing advanced appraisal methodologies, market analysis, and assessment best practices, this position ensures compliance with provincial legislation and contributes to property taxation equity and the economic sustainability of the organization. The Accredited Assessor engages in effective communication with property owners, industry partners, and internal departments, provides professional assessment expertise, supports assessment reviews and appeal processes, and leads or participates in special projects and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

The ideal candidate for this position will have the following:

  • A Post-Secondary Diploma: Lakeland College Business Administration Diploma with a major in Real Estate Appraisal and Assessment OR the University of British Columbia (UBC) Diploma in Urban Land Economics (DULE), Assessment Specialization.  
  • Designation with the Accredited Municipal Assessor of Alberta (AMAA).
  • Accredited Appraiser Canada Institute (AACI) or Certified Assessment Evaluator (CAE) designations would be considered assets.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive accredited assessment experience, preferably in a rural environment with a focus on non-residential properties. An understanding of all types of property assessment would be considered an asset.  
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and highly effective negotiation skills when dealing with members of the public, appeal hearings and comprehensive reports. 
  • Technical knowledge of construction methods and factors related to the evaluation of structures, machinery and equipment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, GIS software and CAMAlot Assessment software programs.

Requirements:

  • Ability to primarily work in-person at Parkland County Centre – 53109A HWY 779, Parkland County, AB.
  • Ability to drive to various properties within Parkland County for assessment purposes.
  • A valid class 5 driver’s license and current, satisfactory driver’s abstract provided upon hire.
  • A satisfactory Criminal Record Check is required upon hire, excluding candidates under the age of 18 and current Parkland County employees.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
Salary & Benefits

A Starting Salary of:   $100,500 to $113,000 per year                           Max Salary Potential:   $127,200 per year
