In this role, your daily work will directly impact our community's health and safety. You will operate, maintain, and repair the potable water distribution system, pump stations, and wastewater collection systems. Typical duties include monitoring and sampling for water quality, flushing hydrants, flushing/jetting sanitary and storm sewer lines, and responding to system alarms. You will also perform routine maintenance and repairs on pumps, valves, hydrants, and lift stations to ensure peak performance.
You will join a dedicated group of employees known to work hard and show passion and care for our environment through safe and diligent practices. We take pride in serving our community of 9,000 residents, with a tourist and seasonal population which can exceed 40,000.
The ideal candidate will have proven experience working in a municipal setting and hold certifications from Alberta Environment & Protected Areas in Water Distribution and Wastewater Collection. Certifications in Water Treatment and Wastewater Treatment will be considered strong assets.
Ideally, you will hold a Class 3 Alberta driver’s license with air brake endorsement and have proven mechanical aptitude, along with experience operating both heavy and light equipment. Preference will be given to individuals with experience operating an excavator or backhoe, as well as a hydrovac or flushing truck. Standard CPR and First Aid certifications are required. This position also involves participating in an on-call rotation to handle after-hours emergencies and ensure continuous operation of our critical infrastructure.
