Lac La Biche County is seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative professional to join our team as a Coordinator, Procurement. Reporting to the Senior Accountant, this role plays a key part in ensuring efficient, compliant, and value-driven procurement practices across the organization.

Position Summary

The Coordinator, Procurement is responsible for delivering high-quality procurement services and ensuring compliance with County policies, bylaws, and public-sector regulations. This role provides expert guidance to departments, supports procurement processes, and contributes to continuous improvement in purchasing and contract management practices.

Key Responsibilities

Procurement & Contract Administration

  • Facilitate procurement processes, including evaluation and review of contract agreements
  • Oversee contract administration activities (preparation, renewal, updates, and tracking)
  • Ensure all procurement activities comply with County policies, trade agreements, and regulations
  • Review solicitation documents and coordinate postings through Alberta Purchasing Connection (APC)
  • Maintain accurate procurement records and support audits and reporting requirements

Advisory & Process Improvement

  • Provide procurement advice and support to internal departments and stakeholders
  • Recommend appropriate procurement methods and assist in preparing documentation
  • Identify process deviations and support implementation of corrective actions
  • Develop and maintain procurement procedures, templates, and tools
  • Analyze purchasing trends and recommend cost-saving and efficiency improvements

Vendor & Performance Management

  • Develop and maintain vendor performance monitoring tools
  • Support resolution of vendor performance issues and corrective actions
  • Conduct cost comparisons to ensure best value for the County

Collaboration & General Duties

  • Participate on interdepartmental teams and committees
  • Build strong relationships with staff, Council, and the public
  • Contribute to a positive workplace culture
  • Support emergency management duties as assigned
Requirements

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Diploma or Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 2–4 years of related experience in procurement or supply chain
  • Public-sector or municipal experience is considered an asset

Certifications (Assets)

  • Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) designation
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong knowledge of public procurement practices, trade agreements, and contract law
  • Understanding of GST/tax protocols and supply chain processes
  • Experience with ERP or public purchasing systems is an asset
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Strong analytical, writing, and policy interpretation skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office

Working Conditions

  • Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
  • Location: Office-based role in Lac La Biche County

Competitive Salary: $76,167.00 to $97,734.00 ($41.85 to $53.70 hourly)

Job Details
 

Hours of Work: 1820 hours per year, Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (35hrs/week). Overtime may be required for peak periods, special projects, and emergency work. 
Location: Lac La Biche, Alberta (On site)
