The Town of New Tecumseth is looking for a SCADA Technologist to join our rapidly growing team.

Performs aspects of work related to the servicing and maintenance of water and wastewater equipment and such other systems owned by the Municipality, with an emphasis towards SCADA and PLC functions.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform assigned work related to the servicing, maintenance and repair of water & wastewater processes including, but not limited to, all equipment owned by the Municipality with a primary focus on SCADA, PLC and instrumentation functions.
  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance work through the Town’s Computerized Maintenance Management System on water/wastewater systems including, but not limited to SCADA instrumentation and electronic equipment, PLC’s, automated process equipment and SCADA servers.
  • Monitor, review, and troubleshoot process operations, networks, and equipment. Provide efficient troubleshooting and repair of process equipment for water/wastewater systems and other related systems.
  • Perform PLC logic reviews and changes as directed by the Supervisor.
  • Responsible for using the Town’s CMMS system to track and update all work orders related to their daily duties and assigned work.
  • Assist with the development and updating of the Preventative Maintenance programs within the Public Works Department. Provides feedback to CMMS administration members and supervisor on areas of improvement or updates within the CMMS process.
  • Evaluate equipment performance and estimates wear/change out predictions using testing and measurement instruments, SCADA and other data logging systems.
  • Conduct studies of equipment operation in collaboration with supervisor to achieve optimum cost-effective operations. Prepare written descriptive summary reports as applicable. Responsible for the basic care and proper usage of Public Works SCADA or PLC software and hardware.
  • Judgment is required in making recommendations to Supervisor concerning equipment and maintenance processes, cost estimating for projects and budgeting.
Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Education: Operational Technology, Information Technology or Technician/Technologist diploma in instrumentation or related field.
  • Valid G class driver’s licence. Travelling is required throughout the Town of New Tecumseth.
  • 3-5 years of relevant working experience. Experience relating to Water/Wastewater operations and the Ministry of Environment licenses would be an asset.
  • Preferred- Industrial electrician license.
  • PLC and SCADA programming experience.
  • GE iFix, Ignition Alarming, RS Logix 500 & 5000, studio 5000 and Dream Reports is an asset.
  • Requires proficiency in electrical safety related to the repair and maintenance of equipment.
  • Working knowledge of both the Canadian Electrical Code and the Ontario Electrical Safety Code is an asset.
  • Troubleshooting and installation of electrical and electronic process related systems, including PLC’s, VFD’s, Flow, Pressure & Temperature measurement and control would be an asset.
  • Competent computer operating skills: Microsoft Suite, SCADA systems, PLC and HMI programing.
Salary & Benefits

Salary: $78,474.12 to 98,098.12 plus employer paid benefits and OMERS pension plan

Hours: 40 hours per week

Location: Town of New Tecumseth (Alliston, Beeton, Tottenham)

Start Date: August 10th, 2026
