The Water Resources Division of Saanich Engineering provides professional services for the management of the municipal sanitary sewer, potable water and storm drainage systems. We are recruiting up to two experienced civil engineering technologists (Level V) to joinour fast-paced and diverse team. The ideal candidates are either experienced technologists or engineers-in-training. The successful candidate will work in the Infrastructure Planning & Analysis Section; a technical team that supports the selection of capital projects, technical and supporting the capital budget process. The work of the Engineering Technician V involves performing civil engineering work at a semi-professional level. Work may include resolving challenging issues from the field; liaising with the public; reviewing development drawings; mentoring junior staff and participating in intra or interdepartmental initiatives as a representative for the team. The role works under the guidance of professional engineers in the team; is afforded an appropriate level of independence in completing work assignments and an extraordinary variation in work tasks that will expand your functional knowledge of municipal infrastructure management in local government setting. The successful candidates will possess a sound technical foundation, strong project management skills, are well organized, have strong communication skills and an appetite for learning.
Requirements include a two-year diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution; a minimum of 6 years of directly related experience; registered as an AScT with the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of BC; a valid BC Class 5 Driver’s Licence. Experience with sewer network modelling would be considered an asset.

Alternate qualifications will also be considered, such as a University Degree in a related field of Engineering and four (4) years of work experience, and eligible for registration with Engineers and Geoscientists of BC as an Engineer-In- Training.
The successful candidates will work Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (35 hours per week) and will be eligible for participation in the District’s modified work week program.
