The Recreation Division is seeking experienced and enthusiastic Instructor IIs to Coach Volleyball at Gordan Head Middle School. Under the general direction of a Recreation Programmer or Program Technician, the Instructor II provides direct coaching for Volleyball activities. Responsibilities include planning and supervising lessons, preparing equipment and activity spaces, developing course outlines, monitoring participant safety and well-being, maintaining attendance records, and creating a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for children and their caregivers. The Instructor will communicate effectively with participants, parents, coworkers, coordinators, and supervisors while ensuring the facility and equipment remain safe and well maintained throughout each session.
Requirements include completion of Grade 10; a minimum of three months’ experience leading camps, classes, or recreational programs; and related training or certification in sport instruction, early childhood recreation, or physical literacy programming. Emergency First Aid and CPR-C are required, and employment is subject to the provision of a satisfactory Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector (PIC-VS) dated within the last six months. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong instructional ability, effective communication with children and parents, adaptability, and a commitment to providing safe, inclusive, and engaging recreation experiences. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
