About the Role
We are currently recruiting a distribution/collection operator for our water distribution and wastewater collection department. This job is for physically active people who get a great deal of satisfaction from doing the job right every time. Highly motivated, independent workers will enjoy the opportunity to work with small crews to accomplish big things and to support Aquatera’s culture of continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and operate water and wastewater mains
- Maintain and operate valves and manholes
- Maintain and operate hydrants and lift stations
- Electronic inspection of sewer services
- Records maintenance
- After-hours standby schedule
- Excavator operation
- Water meter installation and electronic meter reading
- Water turn on/turn off
- Must participate in the stand-by rotation
Qualifications and Required Skills
- High school graduation or equivalent education
- Speak, read and write English
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
- Preference will be given to candidates with post-secondary training in water and wastewater (NAIT, NWP)
- Experience with water/wastewater infrastructure is preferred
- Certification in water distribution and wastewater collection is preferred
- Possession of confined space entry and standard first aid certificates are an asset
- Ability to do physically strenuous work in all weather conditions
- Possess and exhibit strong safety acumen
- Able to work independently and complete all assigned jobs
- Mechanical inclination is an asset
- Must be a team player
- Ability to use computers and electronic equipment
- Knowledge of applicable traffic laws, ordinances, and regulations involved with the operation of equipment
- Valid Canadian driver’s license, minimum of Class 5, Class 3 with air endorsement preferred
Conditions of Employment
- Legally entitled to work in Canada without limitations
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license and satisfactory driver’s abstract
- Satisfactory criminal record check
- Pass 50 lb. fitness test
- Pass comprehensive drug and alcohol test
