Description
As the Wastewater Treatment (WWT) Project Engineer, you will be responsible for leading and supporting engineering projects and initiatives to ensure the reliable, safe, and efficient operations of plant assets. You will combine your expertise in project management, technical, and reliability analysis to plan, execute, and monitor projects, develop standards and processes, and implement continuous improvement initiatives. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, mentor staff, and ensure compliance with regulatory, safety, and corporate requirements while driving innovation and optimizing asset performance. Primary duties include:
• Lead engineering projects from planning to completion, ensuring on time delivery that is within scope, and budget.
• Provide technical engineering and reliability support to operations and maintenance teams.
• Conduct reliability assessments, root cause analysis, and risk evaluations to improve asset performance, availability, and lifecycle outcomes.
• Support condition monitoring, predictive maintenance, and risk-based maintenance strategies to reduce unplanned outages.
• Develop and maintain engineering standards, procedures, and best practices.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives across plant systems, processes and equipment.
• Manage and implement the Project Transition Guide and implement Management of Change (MOC) processes.
• Collaborate with internal and external partners to deliver optimized engineering solutions and share technical knowledge.
 

Requirements

• A degree in Engineering with at least 5 years of relevant professional engineering experience obtained after receiving your P. Eng. Designation and a current licensure as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) complete with practicing status OR licensure and practicing status by the first day of work 
• Equivalent combinations of experience and education may be considered.
• Experience in industrial plant operations, utilities, wastewater treatment, cogeneration, or related process industries.
• Experience with reliability tools and methodologies, including root cause analysis and failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA).
• Project management or reliability certifications (e.g. Project Management Professional [PMP], Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional [CMRP]) are considered an  asset.
• Strong project management, analytical, and critical-thinking skills, with demonstrated ability to apply sound judgement and make data-driven decisions.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across all levels in a shop or plant environment.

Position Type: 1 Permanent
Compensation: Level P3E $115,464 - 144,330 per annum
Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week.
Days of work: This position works a 5-day work week with 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.
