The District of Saanich's Parks, Recreation and Community Services department is seeking a team player to help drive our mission of Healthy Nature, Healthy People, and Healthy Community while supporting our vision: a Saanich where everyone belongs.

The Recreation Division is seeking a motivated and experienced professional to join at Saanich Commonwealth Place team. We are looking for a dynamic Programmer II who brings strong leadership, planning, and organizational skills, and who is passionate about delivering high-quality recreation programs that respond to community needs.

As a Programmer II, you will lead and support a team of Programmer I’s and Program Technicians, taking full accountability for the planning, delivery, and evaluation of recreation programs at Saanich Commonwealth Place and Royal Oak Middle School. Through both hands-on work and team leadership, you will provide direction in program development, coordination, scheduling, and continuous improvement. Aligned to these programs you will oversee their marketing and promotion, managing budgets and resources, advancing divisional and departmental strategic initiatives, and building strong partnerships with community organizations to support community development and ensure programs are delivered efficiently, inclusively, and with a consistent focus on customer experience.

Requirements

Requirements include a university degree in Recreation, Leisure Studies, or a related field; a minimum of three years of experience in recreation programming; and program specialty certification where applicable. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Employment is subject to the provision of a satisfactory Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector (PIC-VS) dated within the last six months. A valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License is required.

The successful candidate will work varied shifts, evenings and weekends as needed, with a minimum of 35 hours per week (hours/shifts are subject to change).

Salary & Benefits
