Parks, Recreation and Community Services is seeking an enthusiastic and community-focused Programmer I to join the Community Services Division – Older Adult Services. This role is ideal for a collaborative professional who is passionate about creating inclusive and engaging programs that support the health, well-being and social connection of older adults in our community.

Reporting to a Programmer II or III, the Programmer I is responsible for planning, implementing and evaluating recreation programs, services and special events within the Older Adult Services area. The role includes recruiting, training and supervising program staff, coordinating schedules for programs and facilities, and ensuring high-quality program delivery through ongoing evaluation and participant feedback. The Programmer I also develops community partnerships, supports marketing and promotional activities, prepares program materials, contributes to budget planning, and ensures programs operate effectively within established resources.

Requirements

Requirements include completion of a two-year post-secondary diploma in recreation, leisure studies or a related field, along with a minimum of two years of experience in program planning and staff supervision. Candidates must demonstrate strong organizational, communication and customer service skills. Employment is subject to a satisfactory Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector (PIC-VS). An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

The successful candidate will work up to 26.25 hours per week, often Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. We thank all applicants for applying. Only those under consideration will be contacted.

Salary & Benefits
