Job Posting: #26-42                                           Status:Temporary, Full-time Short Term

Posting Closes:April 16, 2026 at 4:00 p.m.       Schedule:35 hours/week (7 hours/day)

Working within the Planning & Development Services department and under the direction of the Senior Planner, Development Planning, the Planning & Development Summer Student will assist the development planning team with processing development permit applications and responding to compliance certificate requests. This role will demonstrate excellent customer service skills through regular interaction with the County’s customer base, providing timely information as it relates to development processes and Parkland County’s Land Use Bylaw. This position is a great opportunity for students enrolled in a Planning Degree or Applied Land Use Planning Certificate program, looking to gain valuable experience in municipal planning and development services.

Requirements

The ideal candidate for this position will have the following:

  • High-school diploma and currently enrolled in a Planning Degree or Applied Land Use Planning Certificate program.
  • Excellent customer services and good conflict resolution, active listening and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage time effectively while working with competing timelines.
  • Ability to analyze and evaluate challenges to aid in decision making.
  • Knowledge of land use planning practices.

Requirements:

  • Ability to primarily work in-person at Parkland County Centre – 53109A HWY 779, Parkland County, AB.
  • A valid class 5 driver’s license and satisfactory driver’s abstract provided upon hire.
  • A satisfactory Criminal Record Check is required upon hire, excluding candidates under the age of 18 and current Parkland County employees.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
Salary & Benefits

A Starting Rate of Pay of:  $25.82 to $29.01 per hour
