The Engineering Department plays a vital role in designing, maintaining, and improving the district’s infrastructure and public services. The Storm and Wastewater Section is seeking 3 Utility Operator II to operate all equipment that pertains to maintenance of sewer and drain infrastructure such as Flush Trucks, Hydro Vacs, Rodder. The successful applicant will: work in and around creeks/waterways, and understand environmental protocols and best management practices; operate and perform pipe bursting and fusing; and perform spill response protocols as required.
Requirements include Grade 12 or equivalent; EOCP Level I Certification for Water Distribution or Wastewater Collection is considered an asset; two years of pipefitting experience in water or wastewater systems; experience and/or training directing others; basic navigation skills of field-based GIS software; Traffic Control Certificate; training in confined space entry; and annual renewal of Driver’s Abstract. Candidates must have sufficient physical strength, stamina, and coordination to perform heavy manual work in all weather conditions. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
The successful candidate will work Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (40 hours per week). In addition to the interview process, testing will be conducted. Only those under consideration will be contacted.
This is a C.U.P.E. Local 2011 position with a wage of $37.95 per hour (2024 rate) and an excellent benefits package.
