About the Role

We are currently recruiting a temporary labourer for our water distribution and wastewater collection department. This job is for physically active people who get a great deal of satisfaction from doing the job right every time. Highly motivated, independent workers will enjoy the opportunity to work with small crews to accomplish big things and to support Aquatera’s culture of continuous improvement. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Excavation of water and wastewater infrastructure
  • Line flushing
  • Valve exercising, fire hydrant flushing, and painting
  • Operating equipment and working outside in various weather conditions
  • Exposure to noise, fumes, dust, dirt, odours and chemicals
  • Other duties as required
Requirements

 Qualifications and Required Skills

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada without limitations
  • High school or equivalent education
  • Must be able to do physically strenuous work in all weather conditions
  • Must possess and exhibit strong safety acumen
  • Must be able to work independently and complete all assigned jobs
  • Ability to operate all equipment in assigned area of responsibility
  • Skill in using a grease gun, wrenches, screwdrivers, sockets, and other various hand and power tools
  • Experience operating a backhoe and excavating around utilities is an asset
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
  • Smoking restrictions are in effect 
  • Must be a team player
  • Safety footwear is required
  • Possession of confined space entry, standard first aid, H2S, fall protection, and ground disturbance certificates an asset
  • Ability to use computers and electronic equipment
  • Knowledge of applicable traffic laws, ordinances, and regulations involved with the operation of equipment
  • Knowledge of Alberta OHS Act, regulations, and code
  • Valid Canadian driver’s license, minimum of Class 5, Class 3 with air endorsement preferred
  • Travel to other locations we serve, including overnight travel may be required.

Conditions of Employment

  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license
  • Driver’s abstract satisfactory to the employer
  • Criminal record check satisfactory to the employer
  • Satisfactory completion of a 50 lb. fitness test
  • Satisfactory completion of a comprehensive drug and alcohol test
