Now Hiring: Communications Summer Student (Competition #26-23)
Parkland County has a temporary, full-time position for a Communications Summer Student working from approximately end of April to end of August 2026 in the Communications & Customer Service Department. Under the direction of the Supervisor, Communications, the Summer Student will assist the communications team in responding to emergencies, support public events throughout the County, write articles and take photos for the Your Parkland newsletter, work on videos and coordinate posts for Parkland County’s social media accounts and website. This position is a great opportunity for Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or Marketing students looking to gain valuable experience in municipal promotion and communications.
The ideal candidate would have the following:
- Enrolled in post-secondary education program with a focus on Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or Marketing.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience in planning and executing social media activity. Social media experience in a professional setting is considered an asset.
- Experience with event management, photography, videography, and video production.
- Excellent time management skills as well as the ability to prioritize responsibilities.
- Must have a Class 5 Driver’s License. A current satisfactory Driver’s Abstract must be provided.
The total rewards package for this position includes:
An hourly rate of pay of $25.82 to $29.01 based on a 35-hour work week with flexible scheduling availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
