The City of Nanaimo is seeking a permanent full-time Municipal Services Inspector. Under the general direction of the Project Manager, the incumbent inspects, monitors, administers, and approves the construction of Engineering projects, subdivision and building developments, private utility installations, and other civil construction works within City of Nanaimo roads and rights-of-ways.

Requirements

Applicants must have a diploma in a specialty such as engineering, surveying or construction from a recognized technical institute, as well as a minimum of 4 years’ experience in survey, construction, design and inspection of civil works, with emphasis on construction and inspection. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Membership or eligibility of membership with Applied Science Technologists & Technicians of BC (ASTTBC) and possession of a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License is required.

Salary & Benefits

This is a CUPE bargaining unit position based on a 40-hour work week, and subject to Article 1(d) - Probationary Period as set out in the Union Collective Agreement. The hourly wage is $42.34, increasing to $44.57 after 60 working days (Jan 2025 Rates).
