Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Prepare various balance sheet account reconciliations, including bank accounts, investments, etc.
- Prepare and maintain required financial schedules, working papers, leadsheets, and reports.
- Assist in creating and maintaining the City’s operating and capital budgets.
- Monitor cash balances and optimize cash flow.
- Maintain records of tangible capital asset acquisitions, disposals, and depreciation.
- Monitor project expenditures and reconcile against budgets.
- Monitor and report on provincial and federal grants for operating and capital projects.
- Recommend and implement improvements to accounting policies, procedures and financial controls in the spirit of continuous improvement.
- Provide financial advice and internal reporting and analysis to internal customers.
Qualifications include, but are not limited to:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field.
- CPA candidate or CPA designation preferred.
- Minimum 3 years’ intermediate accounting experience.
- Intermediate skills working with financial systems.
- Experience in public sector accounting within a municipal or local government environment, including audit working papers, year-end schedules, multi-account reconciliations, grant-funded reporting, and PSAS-compliant reconciliation processes, is considered an asset.
- Extensive working knowledge of Microsoft 365, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook is required.
- Experience with financial software, including Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains, City Wide Asset Manager or WorkTech Pearl, project portfolio management software, IntelliLeisure Point of Sale, Sharepoint, Laserfiche, and FMW Web are considered assets

- Ability to manage multiple projects while meeting tight deadlines.
- Strong organizational skills and a positive attitude are essential.
Hours of Work: 37.5 per week; Monday to Friday

The City of Fort Saskatchewan offers a competitive compensation package with a salary range of $79,092.00 to $93,054.00 per annum.
