As a Journeyperson Boom Truck Operator, you will be responsible for the operation of a large crane, up to 30 tons, mounted on a 7-ton chassis, under the direction of a Foreperson. You will be required to perform heavy manual labour under difficult and unfavorable weather conditions. Primary duties include:

Operate the crane to lift and move large and heavy equipment, materials, supplies and safety devices.
•
Inspect, clean, and perform routine maintenance on the crane, hoisting equipment and attached vehicle.
•
Complete daily logs, National Safety Code Driver's Hours of Service form and other paperwork.
•
Inspect, load and transport materials, supplies, tools, etc. to various locations.
•
Report all necessary repairs to either the Foreperson or the Vehicle & Equipment Coordinator.
•
Perform other duties when not driving the vehicle or operating the crane.
Qualifications
• A valid Class 3 Driver's License (or provincial equivalent) with Q endorsement OR a valid Employee Operator's Permit Class 3 with Q endorsement as per the fleet documentation and current Driver's Abstract.
• Must have a valid Alberta Journeyperson Boom Truck Operator Certification or equivalent interprovincial Red SEAL certification.
• High School diploma or equivalency (e.g. GED or CAEC [Canadian Adult Education Certificate]) will be considered an asset.
• Ability to complete tasks with limited supervision.
• Success in this position requires strong communication skills, the ability to persuade, influence and negotiate with customers, clients, and staff.
Working Conditions: This position requires exposure to weather and site hazards such as excavations, dust, dirt and wet.
