Now Hiring: Flagperson (Competition #26-16) 

Parkland County has casual Flagperson positions available in Operations Services for approximately five (5) months, commencing in May of 2026. Stationed in either Stony Plain or Tomahawk, you will provide traffic control/directions to motoring public traveling through work areas with some labour duties required. Experience operating packing equipment and other equipment experience would be considered an asset. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required. You will be supplied with protective equipment (coveralls, hard hat, and fluorescent reflectorized vest) which must be worn when applicable. You must supply your own CSA approved steel toe footwear, which must be in good condition and worn when applicable. 

Requirements

The ideal candidate would have the following: 

  • Certification as a Flagperson is desirable, however training will be provided. 

  • Experience operating packing equipment is considered an asset. 

  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License. Upon hire, a current Driver’s Abstract and satisfactory driving record must be provided. 

  • Ability to relay information in a quick & courteous manner.

Salary & Benefits
  • The total rewards package for this position includes: 

An hourly rate of pay of $22.19 with working hours as required based on a 40 hour/week schedule. Hours may vary significantly depending on weather and operational conditions. Extensive overtime may be required. 

Successful candidates may have opportunities for labor related work at an increased wage at the discretion of leadership (Maintenance Service Worker I rate of pay of $28.10 per hour).
