The Senior Electrician contributes to the effective operation of the Wastewater Services for the Regional District of Nanaimo, by ensuring the continued safe operation and maintenance of the instrumental equipment and electrical systems of the Wastewater Treatment plant processes and pump stations. This position supports the department by
ensuring the facilities’ instrumentation and electrical equipment are in good repair and functioning as required to enable department team members to meet service expectations, maintain permit compliance and reach departmental goals and objectives.
Qualifications include high school graduation as well as an Electrical Trade Qualification with Interprovincial Red Seal and a valid BC Class B Certification and a minimum of two years related electrical/electronic instrumentation and control experience (preferably in a municipal wastewater operations setting) and a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence. A certificate in Process Instrumentation and Control and experience in conducting audits are considered assets.
This is a permanent full-time (40 hours per week) Union position. The (2026) rate of pay is $48.39 to $50.94. The position offers an attractive benefits package as provided within the collective agreement between the Regional District of Nanaimo and the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 401.
