The Business Solutions Coordinator reports to Business Support Services for the Community Development and Community Infrastructure Commissions. In this role, the Coordinator collaborates with the Commission's departments and Information Technology Systems to understand key business objectives and technological capabilities. The main goal for this position is to provide fully integrated business solutions using multiple technology platforms to enhance business innovation and continuous improvement processes to the Commissions.  

The incumbent will work closely with end users, management, and various departments, leveraging technology to develop and support business solutions. The focus is on continuous improvement of business processes, developing functional requirements, and implementing business solutions that meet business objectives. 
 

Business Analysis and Process Improvement  

  • Engage with departments to assess business needs, workflows, and service delivery challenges.
  • Conduct business process mapping, gap analysis, and requirements gathering.
  • Recommend process improvements and technology solutions aligned with commission priorities.
  • Translates complex business requirements into technical specifications.  
  • Maintains knowledge of leading technology solutions, practices, and trends. 
  • Act as a liaison between business units and ITS to ensure system meets operational needs.
  • Support the configuration and enhancement of municipal systems (e.g., AMANDA, Project Dox).
  • Troubleshoot system issues and coordinate resolutions with vendors or internal teams.
  • Build strong relationships with internal clients to foster collaboration and continuous improvement.

 

Project, Change Management and Coordination 
 

  • Apply project management methods and tools to manage small to medium projects across multiple technology platforms.
  • Coordinate project tasks, timelines, and change management activities.
  • Coordinate the implementation, configuration and testing of new applications with ITS, external consultants, departmental staff and end users.  
  • Provide application training specifically to internal and external customers including developing checklists, tip sheets and job aids. 
     

 

Requirements

Qualifications/Skills:  

 

  • Successful completion of a diploma or degree in Business, Computer Science, GIS, or related field, plus five years of experience in business solutions, requirements gathering, data analysis and project coordination.  Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. 
  • Certification in business analysis (CCBA, CBAP), Lean Green Belt and/or GIS (GISP) is an asset.  Ability pursue at least one designation within the first 2 years is required. 
  • Experience supporting and enhancing enterprise applications such as  AMANDA, GIS, SharePoint, dashboards or other enterprise systems. 
  • Strong knowledge of business analysis and project management principles, with the ability to manage small to medium sized projects across multiple technology platforms. 
    Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, priorities independently. 
  • Technical proficiency with municipal applications such as AMANDA, electronic plan review and permitting management system, ArcGIS, MS Office, SharePoint, SQL, Crystal Reports, Visio, ERP systems, etc. 
  • Practical knowledge of spatial data creation, data sets and related workflows. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to prepare and deliver presentations. 
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving skills and decision-making skills. 
  • Understanding of Planning and Development processes and the system development lifecycle. 
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly and apply them to business solutions.
