About the Role
We are currently recruiting for a student water/wastewater treatment operator trainee for our Class III water and Class IV wastewater treatment plants in Grande Prairie and for other facilities within Alberta.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform facility operation and maintenance tasks related to process monitoring and optimization
- Laboratory and field analysis
- Reporting and detailed record keeping
- Other related duties as assigned
- Shift work may be required
Qualifications and Required Skills
- Must be a current student enrolled in the NAIT or NWP Water and Wastewater Technician Program
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
- Self-motivated, organized and safety conscious
- Able to work as part of a team or independently without direct supervision
- Proven mechanical aptitude, good analytical and problem-solving skills
- Basic knowledge of mathematics, chemistry, biology and computers
- Strong interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively
- Consistently model Aquatera’s values and principles, and incorporate continuous improvement initiatives
- Have a valid Class 5 driver’s licence
- Have a high school diploma or recognized equivalent
Conditions of Employment
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license
- Satisfactory driver’s abstract
- Pass 50 lb. fitness test
- Pass comprehensive drug and alcohol test
Compensation is per the CUPE Local 787 collective agreement.
