 About the Role

We are currently recruiting for a student water/wastewater treatment operator trainee for our Class III water and Class IV wastewater treatment plants in Grande Prairie and for other facilities within Alberta.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform facility operation and maintenance tasks related to process monitoring and optimization
  • Laboratory and field analysis
  • Reporting and detailed record keeping 
  • Other related duties as assigned
  • Shift work may be required
Requirements

Qualifications and Required Skills

  • Must be a current student enrolled in the NAIT or NWP Water and Wastewater Technician Program
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Self-motivated, organized and safety conscious
  • Able to work as part of a team or independently without direct supervision
  • Proven mechanical aptitude, good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Basic knowledge of mathematics, chemistry, biology and computers
  • Strong interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively
  • Consistently model Aquatera’s values and principles, and incorporate continuous improvement initiatives
  • Have a valid Class 5 driver’s licence
  • Have a high school diploma or recognized equivalent

Conditions of Employment

  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license
  • Satisfactory driver’s abstract
  • Pass 50 lb. fitness test
  • Pass comprehensive drug and alcohol test
Salary & Benefits

Compensation is per the CUPE Local 787 collective agreement.
