Description
The District of Saanich is seeking a customer-focused and detail-oriented individual to join the Finance Department within the Revenue Services Division. This role supports the delivery of essential municipal revenue services and contributes to a team environment where accuracy, accountability, and service excellence are highly valued.

The Revenue Services Division is responsible for administering property taxes, utility billing, dog licensing, and related revenue programs for the District. The Property Taxes & Utility Clerk / Cashier plays a key front-line role, responding to public inquiries and supporting daily clerical and cashiering operations. This position is well suited to someone who enjoys working with the public, handling financial transactions, and maintaining accurate records in a fast-paced office environment.

As a Property Taxes & Utility Clerk / Cashier, you will perform daily clerical and cashiering duties related to property taxation, utility billing, dog licensing, and municipal charges. Responsibilities include responding to counter, telephone, electronic, and written inquiries; receiving and balancing a wide variety of payments; entering customer payments and adjustments into billing systems; issuing receipts; preparing and reconciling daily deposits; maintaining account records; assisting with meter reading processing and account adjustments; and preparing routine correspondence, reports, and office documentation.

Requirements

Requirements include Grade 12 or equivalent, completion of one year of post-secondary courses in business, accounting, or office administration, and one year of experience in an accounting or cashiering environment that includes handling cash and interacting with the public. Working knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing software (Excel and Word) is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

The successful candidate will work Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. As a component of the selection process, testing will be conducted. Although we thank all applicants for applying, only those under consideration will be contacted.

Salary & Benefits

This is a C.U.P.E. Local 2011 position with a wage of $34.41 per hour plus an excellent benefits package or 15% in lieu of benefits for Temporary positions.  Job description and competition information can be found at www.saanich.ca.
