Cedar Hill Recreation Centre is looking for Instructor IIIs – Visual Arts to plan and deliver visual arts programs for a variety of age groups, including early childhood, school age children, youth, and adults. Programs may include drawing, painting, mixed media, fibre arts and other visual art forms offered through registered classes, workshops, camps, and special programs. At this time, we are specifically seeking an instructor for weekly early childhood and school age classes on Sundays, however new programs may be developed for summer and fall sessions. This role is ideal for an experienced visual arts instructor who enjoys sharing artistic skills in a supportive, welcoming, and inspiring environment.
As an Instructor III – Visual Arts, you will be responsible for developing and leading visual arts programs within your area of expertise. Duties include course preparation and planning, , delivering safe and engaging instruction, welcoming and supporting participants, maintaining accurate attendance records, and ensuring a clean and safe learning environment. Instructors are expected to demonstrate strong artistic knowledge, effective communication skills, and the ability to adapt instruction to different age groups and skill levels.
Requirements include completion of Grade 10; a minimum of three months’ experience instructing in the visual arts; and certification or training in the area of instruction in accordance with industry standards. Emergency First Aid and CPR-C certification are required as applicable. Employment is subject to the provision of a satisfactory Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector (PIC-VS) no older than six months, with renewal required as per policy. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
