The District of Saanich’s Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department is seeking skilled and creative individuals to support our mission of Healthy Nature, Healthy People, and Healthy Community. You will join a collaborative recreation team where service excellence, creativity, learning, and inclusive community engagement are highly valued.

Within the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department, Recreation Division, the Cedar Hill Recreation Centre is looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Instructor II – Dance. This role is ideal for an individual who is passionate about dance instruction and enjoys working with participants of varying ages and abilities in a positive, inclusive, and supportive setting.

As an Instructor II – Dance, you will be responsible for planning, instructing, and leading dance programs in a safe, organized, and engaging manner. Duties include lesson planning and preparation, instructing participants, keeping attendance records, and ensuring adherence to facility rules and safety standards. You will foster a welcoming environment that encourages skill development, confidence, creativity, and enjoyment of physical activity through dance. At this time we are specifically seeking an instructor for adult ballet, however new programs may be developed for summer or fall sessions.

Requirements

Requirements include Completion of Grade 10; a minimum of three months’ experience in a related area of instruction; and related dance training or certification, or equivalent training where formal certification does not exist. Emergency First Aid and CPR-C are required, along with a satisfactory Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector (PIC-VS) no older than six months, renewed as per policy. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills, adaptability, customer focus, and the ability to deliver instruction in a safe and organized manner. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

The successful candidate will be required to work a variety of shifts, which may include  daytime, after school, evenings, and weekends; hours and schedules are subject to change based on program needs. While we thank all applicants for applying, only those under consideration will be contacted.

Salary & Benefits
