Our Fleet Services Department is looking for a dedicated Journeyperson Automotive Mechanic to join the team.
Position Responsibilities
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
- Valid Alberta Class 5 Drivers License (Class 3 will be required after hire)
- Inter-Provincial (Red Seal) Journeyman Certificates as Automotive Mechanic
- Automotive and Heavy Duty Mechanic certifications with strong experience with electrical and aftermarket systems will be considered an asset.
- Experience in diagnosing and repair of emergency vehicles and accessories would be considered a definite asset
- Experience in maintaining fleet vehicles and equipment is an asset
- Perform duties effectively and efficiently as assigned
- Maintain safe work practices and a safe working environment
- Ensure effective care and use of tools, equipment, vehicles, materials and assigned work areas
- Must provide own tools and storage box
- Promote effective employee/employer relations
- Establish and maintain effective work team relationships within Fleet and with other City employees and the public
Hours
The standard workweek consists of an average of 40 hours, with the specific schedule being determined by the immediate supervisor.

Qualifications
- The department is seeking an Automotive Mechanic. A dual-ticket mechanic (automotive and heavy duty certifications) would be considered an asset. As part of the team, this position will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a variety of mechanical equipment.
- You are a safety conscious team player looking for the chance to use your mechanical skills and knowledge in a variety of applications, able to work independently without close, direct supervision and physically be able to perform heavy lifting, pull heavy objects, and climb ladders.
- We are seeking an Automotive Mechanic for this role with strong electrical and diagnostic backgrounds.
Compensation
Starting salary $48.94 per hour as per the CUPE Collective Agreement.
