G.R. Pearkes Recreation Centre is hiring experienced and enthusiastic Instructor IIs to plan and lead Kids Cooking Classes for children and youth. These programs introduce participants to the basics of cooking, including kitchen safety, food preparation, measuring, and following simple recipes, all in a fun and engaging environment. Instructors are responsible for planning and delivering lessons, preparing and maintaining a safe cooking space, supervising participants, and creating a positive and inclusive experience that encourages confidence and creativity in the kitchen.

Requirements

Requirements include completion of Grade 10; at least three months of experience leading recreational or instructional programs; Emergency First Aid and CPR-C; and a satisfactory Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector (PIC-VS) no older than 6 months. Previous experience or certification in Kids Cooking instruction is considered an asset. The ideal candidate will be flexible and inclusive, with strong interpersonal skills, the ability to motivate and support youth of varying skill levels, and a passion for promoting active lifestyles. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

The successful candidate will be required to work a variety of shifts, including daytime, after school, evenings, and weekends; hours and schedules are subject to change based on program needs. As a component of the selection process, testing may be conducted. These programs are delivered at Colquitz Middle School and coordinated through G.R. Pearkes Recreation Centre. Salary & Benefits
